Gemotions

The music was too loud, the laughter too boisterous. She felt a tremor in her hands as she reached for her water glass, spilling a few drops. The room was spinning, and she gripped the tablecloth tightly, a desperate attempt to stay grounded.

She avoided making eye contact with anyone, afraid her nervousness would give her away. She could practically feel her heart thudding against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence. She wished she had never agreed to do this.

When her name was called, it felt like an eternity. She took a step towards the stage, her legs numb. She tried to smile, but it felt more like a grimace. This was going to be a disaster.
